Here ya go, WWI buffs. A place to talk about sims other than WWII.

Some really great new sims out there and since most of us fly and play other sims and games, why not talk about them.

Have at it.

Holy exploding Gasbag, Lt. Luke!
You really pulled a fast one there!

Thanks LNL for the new forum. thumbsup.gif thumbsup.gif thumbsup.gif thumbsup.gif

Here's a teaser from Lieutenant Frank Luke. This is from Acepilots.com. To read more of Lt. Luke and others go HERE

COMBAT REPORT - September 28, 1918.

Lieutenant Frank Luke reports:

I flew north to Verdun, crossed the lines at about five hundred meters and found a balloon in its nest in the region of Bethenville. I dove on it firing both guns. After I pulled away it burst into flames. As I could not find any others I returned to the airdrome. One confirmation requested.

Luke's final flight is shrouded in confusion and disagreement. It is reasonably certain that he attacked the three balloons over the Meuse and was engaged by the Fokkers covering it. He burned the three drachen; American Balloon Headquarters confirmed those victories. According to the residents of Murvaux, he also shot down two of the German fighters. (These victories are not included in his confirmed total of 18.) He crash-landed near Murvaux and was killed in a gun battle with German soldiers.

Waiting to see what RoF updates come in their latest package. I will not purchase a sim that requires me to be online just to fly my sim. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy online flying with my online buddies, but I just don't know 500 sim pilots I want to fly with!

I want to be able to fly my sims when I WANT TO and that may not involve being on line.

Another thought. Lets say you pay $49 bucks for your sim that requires you to be online to fly it for security because it has to be validated as a legal copy everytime you use it. When this company goes belly up how you gonna fly your sim? They're no longer there to validate your sim online!

OOPS! Didn't mean to climb onto my soap box. blink.gif

RoF really looks like an interesting sim that I would probably buy were it not for the online validation requirement.

Waiting...

No apology needed for the RoF DRM rant - I agree.

I have First Eagles: The Great Air War 1918 and I've fooled around with it a bit. I'll have to spend some more time with it.

This is not a sim, but I enjoy Wings of War and have played through it about 4 times now.

Just saw an update over at the RoF forums from the creator that they are about to release a patch that will allow one to fly offline without having to log in. Not perfect yet, but seems they are listening and going in the right direction.

Like Duckie, I'll wait and read the reviews before I spend the bucks.
